Vivek Kumar is a passionate and driven Site Reliability Engineer currently working at LinkedIn. With almost 5 years of relevant experience, Vivek has a strong background in scaling products to millions, ensuring their availability, and forecasting organic growth. He is responsible for keeping LinkedIn.com, LinkedIn.cn, and LinkedIn-lite up and running with an availability of 99.99%. Vivek has a talent for capacity and resource planning for micro-services, and he has a keen eye for observability around mobile application crashes and JavaScript errors. He also monitors the Apple store and Google play store rating of LinkedIn Apps and ensures end-to-end observability and monitoring of services. In addition to his technical responsibilities, Vivek is also involved in interviewing and mentoring new hires and interns, making LinkedIn the place with the best talent. He is co-author of the famous and viral SRE course "School Of SRE" and a mentor under the LinkedIn CoachIn program. Prior to joining LinkedIn, Vivek worked at PhonePe as a DevOps cum Site Reliability Engineer. He was responsible for 24/7 on-call responsibility and primary point of contact for tackling any issue at infra and service hosted to maintain uptime of the service. He designed an IP Address Management (IPAM) tool that generates BGP IPs for network interfaces on Baremetal/Virtual machines to establish numbered BGP connections with leaf for the DataCenter. Vivek also has experience in setting up VPN services, efficient monitoring from scratch for every server in DC using Riemann event stream processor and storing using time series database (Influx DB) and projecting using visualization tool Grafana. He wrote plugins to gather system and service metrics hosted on the server and generate pager alerts in case of anomaly. He automated many trivial operational works on a large scale like backup, setting up servers, verification of servers before going live, and set up disaster recovery for the primary DataCenter from scratch. Vivek is a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Digitization, Analytics, Crypto Currency, and BlockChain Technology for Future Business Transformation. He presented his work at the conference over "Autonomous Landing of Vision-Based Unmanned Aerial Vehicle". Vivek holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Computer Science from Haldia Institute of Technology.
